From the restaurant, you can enjoy views of Raadvad Lake, the old factory buildings of the Raadvad Knife Factory, and the forest beyond the water. The inn is set on elevated ground, offering a unique combination of nature, history, and tranquility.
An inn with more than 160 years of history
Raadvad Kro has been a gathering place in the area since 1861, when it was originally built as a hotel and restaurant in connection with the Raadvad Knife Factory. Even today, you can still find knives labeled “Raadvad” in shops.
The inn played a central role in the small industrial community, where workers, families, and visitors would gather. Today, the town of Raadvad is protected and remains largely unchanged since the 18th and 19th centuries, serving as a living testament to Denmark’s early industrial era. It’s ideal to combine your visit with a walk through the historic surroundings.
Gastronomy in beautiful surroundings
In addition to its Nordic focus matching the restaurant’s carefully renovated interior, Raadvad Kro also follows a tradition of changing its menu with the seasons. The kitchen works with seasonal ingredients, blending both classic and modern influences.
Drive out or combine your visit with a scenic bike ride for an idyllic nature experience and an inspiring culinary journey.
