Smørrebrød with a progressive soul and plenty of "rørt" love 

Forget all about dusty glass displays and boring classics. At RØRT in Bernikowsgården, they give the Danish national dish a loving, modern makeover. The mission is to give the smørrebrød a green and contemporary lift, where flavor is always the top priority. 

The menu is a playful universe of textures and aromas. You’ll find everything from vegan umami bombs to warm favorites straight from the grill. This is craftsmanship that tastes of the season's best ingredients, served with an uncompromising stance on organic produce and sustainability. 

 

Upcycling and creative craftsmanship 

RØRT is also about doing things right. They work purposefully with upcycling, ensuring that nothing goes to waste. For example, the ends of the rye bread are given new life in their popular dessert smørrebrød ‘Ryenana’ - a juicy banana bread topped with toasted nuts and crème fraîche. 

"We want to show that smørrebrød can be green, organic, and ultra-modern without compromising on satisfaction and deep flavor," says the team behind RØRT. 

 

A hidden gem in the city center 

In the atmospheric surroundings of Bernikowsgården, RØRT has created their first “real” restaurant. Here, the pace is slowed down just enough for you to enjoy a complete experience with carefully selected natural wines, kombucha, or a cold craft beer. 

Whether you’re into the purely plant-based, the maritime, or the grilled varieties, you’ll be met by a young, passionate team eager to "stir" your perception of what a Danish smørrebrød can be.
