Oranje brings a fresh, crisp, and sustainable approach to Nyhavn’s waterfront dining scene. The restaurant and bar offer everything locals love about the city - right on the harbor.
Enjoy flavorful small dishes in the sun on the deck, authentic dining below deck in beautifully restored surroundings, strong and colorful cocktails, microbrewed beer, a glass of champagne, Burgundy, or natural wine and, of course, a proper coffee. At Oranje, you can lean back, soak in the moment, and feel both a little at home and a little abroad - exotic and familiar all at once.
The kitchen is led by chef André Wiedmayer, a well-traveled culinary talent curating a simple yet outstanding menu.

Yes, Oranje was built in 1898 in the Netherlands and originally sailed as a cargo ship across Northern European waters. It arrived in Denmark in 1931, was based in Nyord, and worked as a “sea farmer,” transporting grain, feed, and fertilizer until 1967.
For a while, the ship became the center of a dream to sail around the world. In 1986, its transformation into a restaurant began, and three years later, in 1989, it opened as Restaurant Oranje in Svendborg. In 2016, the ship arrived in Nyhavn, and since 2019, Oranje has been operated as a beloved floating restaurant — a piece of living maritime history now serving some of Copenhagen’s freshest food and atmosphere.
